my sweet baby boy was born on leap year.
february twenty-ninth two thousand and four.
he turns seven years old sometime between today and tomorrow.
(we'll celebrate his second birthday next year.)
seven years old.
oh my goodness, how time seems to fly by.
sebastian is the sweetest, most generous boy.
i'm so proud to call him mine.
we waited until this year to share his birth video with him.
after he watched his delivery into the world;
while still snuggled up in my lap,
he looked at me and said
"That was amazing."
Funny, I was thinking the same thing.
how can something seem like just yesterday and at the same time seem like another lifetime?
seven years ago tonight, he was fast asleep in my belly.
seven years ago tonight, he was fast asleep in my belly.
Seven seconds, seven minutes, seven hours, seven days, seven weeks, seven months, seven years.
(loving you all the while.)
you are a miracle.
an absolute joy.
all of the wonderful things that make a seven year old boy,
rolled up into one beautiful little man.
Sebastian Anthony,
I remember every minute of the afternoon you were born.
I remember the fear of new motherhood.
I remember the softness of your skin and the light in your eyes.
I remember the rise and fall of my contractions and the intensity of your arrival.
I remember the weight of your tiny body on my chest when the doctor placed you on top of me.
(you are an angel.)
I would do it over again and again to have you here with me now.
i love you.
happy birthday honey.

Oh, what a lovely post. Especially the part about his resonse to his birth video. He must be such a special, sensitive child. As always, I love the photos. =) Happy Birthday, Sebastian!
Happy Seventh Birthday to Sweet Sebastian! Andrew Carnegie said it best: "Give me the life of the boy whose mother is nurse, seamstress, washerwoman, cook, teacher, angel, and saint, all in one, and whose father is guide, exemplar, and friend. No servants to come between. These are the boys who are born to the best fortune." Your family is very rich indeed!
Your Friend,
Deborah
