simple gift

The hustle and bustle of the holiday season has definantly begun.

(It's my most favorite of holiday seasons.)

This year I have decided to take a more simple
 approach when gift giving.

I'm returning to the handmade gift.

The beauty and thoughtfulness on an item
that was made by hand with it's recipient in mind.

Simple. Beautiful. Thoughtful. Gifts.

I thought I would share with you
a few of the simple gifts that I'm making for my loved ones,
in hopes that I might inspire you to do the same.

Layered Floral Note Cards

This idea was adapted from a beautiful handmade card that a dear friend of mine made for me last year. When I received it, the sweetness of the card competed heavily with the sweetness of her handwritten note. Call me old fashioned, but I believe that a set of twelve of these note cards with matching envelopes would be a wonderful gift.

This year, for someone I love very much, they will be.

These paper rosettes are my newest obsession. They might become yours as well.

Those are simply elegant!
Call me old fahioned too, then, and proud of it. :) because for many years I've leaned heavily toward home made gift giving. At one time my family even made it the "rule" of the year at the extended family gift exchange.. had to be handmade.
But I do it simply because I enjoy it. It may take much, much, more time to make gifts.. but it's time at home in the comfort of creativity, with the kids, rather than in a store away from them.
It's personal. It's practical.
I was just in note card-making mode with my three year old earlier this evening. And I'm obsessed with all things rosettes this year - they're a bit of a theme... we've got some fun with felt in the works.
What beautfiul gifts. Thank you for sharing! And what a lucky recipient. :)

I did the paper rosettes for a school fundraiser in November except I made them smaller scale, attached them to a hair clip and mod podged them for stability. They are standing up well. I have white and some vintage book pages I've made them out of and they are very charming. Another gift idea for your homemade theme this year if you are interested. :)

These are so wonderful. I, too, am doing handmade gifts this year, and I simply adore this idea. :)
