I was looking for a way to organize and clarify the dinner menu in our home, so that the boys and Anthony would know what to expect for dinner and so that I could plan out and shop for the meals ahead of time. I thought that a little chalkboard would be just perfect. Instead of buying one of the many that I had seen, I decided to cruise by the thrift store, pick something up and do a little repurposing... I found this framed picture and thought that it was just about the size and shape that I was looking for and it just so happened to have a wonderful frame attached to it. Oh, it cost me a whopping $2.00
So, as much a I like strawberries... That picture had to go. I popped the picture off of the frame and removed the staples that had held it together.
Next I bought a can of chalkboard spray paint at Michael's. I sprayed the picture inside of an old box and it took about an hour and a half to fully dry.
Lastly, I used wood glue around the interior edge of the frame and placed the picture portion back into the frame. The dry time was about 30 minutes. Just like that, a darling chalkboard menu for our kitchen! Happy planning...
