The Dog The Cat and The Rat

Extraordinary.
Peaceful.
Dog.
Friendly.
Cat.
Moving.
Awesome.
Rat.
On the streets of down town Santa Barbara, live a homeless man and his three pet's... A dog, a cat and a rat... He has taught them not only to coexist, but to love one another despite their differences... While I was donating to his cause and stopping to take this picture, another women asked the man,"How do they get along?', he answered, "Why can't we get along?"
Thank you for reminding me that we are all human, all equals in the most simple of forms... We walk this Earth together and we should embrace and love one another despite our outward and inward differences. War is wrong, it hurts everyone... Peace prevails...

Love One Another...

Vrooom....

This year we spent the long memorial day weekend in beautiful Santa Barbara with me sister and her family...

So here I was seated comfortably on the back on my brother in law's vintage Vespa, my sister's pink helmet snugly atop my head... We were on the way to the store to pick up some last minute items for the evening, ice cream and Lamb chops...Our ticket for some fresh air, a ticket to ride, and ride we did!.. We were off... down the drive way and up the street in no time... It was fast, faster than I had expected it to be... and it was exciting! I felt like I was flying through the streets... people were looking at us as we passed them by... My fingers were freezing like little icicles, and the wind was rushing at me so quickly, that even through my goggles my eyes watered and so I closed them for a quick minute... only to imagine that I was zipping through the streets of Rome, no time limits, no children to feed, bathe and get to bed by 7:30 p.m. I open my eyes to find us in the hills of Santa Barbara,(we were taking a scenic route to the grocery store), gigantic homes and lush landscapes, an ocean view and the sun, still high in the sky... beautiful. Then only blocks from there, a spanish barrio, and a tiny Italian market... We quickly gathered the food that we came for and hoped back on the smokey blue bike... home in a flash... safe, heart racing, mind wandering, in the house, babies smiling, little children's hands a grabbing... back to reality, my reality... thanks Will...

The Stars and The Castle

Today I thought that Sebastian and I should make a set of shadow puppets to play with prior to bedtime; or anytime throughout the day... actually, any excuse to use a flashlight is gladly accepted!... I got the idea from another mother's blog, and put my own spin on it... I love the twigs that we used as handles and I think that the black die cut's are a wonderful alternative to hand cutting our own shapes and designs. I went to our local scrap-booking store today while Sebastian was at school, and was able to spend over a hour die cutting various shapes and images that I knew he would love! (Thank you to Brooklyn who slept peacefully beside me...) Here are a few of what I chose... A camera, stars, a castle, a family silhouette, a cat, tree, pumpkin, so on a so forth... fourteen in all. What wonderful fun! He loved this project just as much as I did, and do you know what the best park of my day was??? Sitting cross legged with my big boy in a pitch black closet, casting wonderful shadow's on the wall... My favorite... the stars, his favorite, the castle...

Idea's Please?

I have been racking my brain trying to think of a creative way to use a stock pile of glass baby food jar's... We have already filled some with crafting supplies such as buttons and glitter, paint and rhinestones, but I still feel like these jars have a greater calling... Donate some to Sebastian's preschool, check... Recycle a few hundred, check... Any fabulous ideas... please enlighten me and leave a comment below... thanks!

Just In Time For Summer...

Look at this sweet little find from the used children's store near out home... I lucked out Thursday finding not only this great little book; featuring the one and only Sir. George, but also a darling pair of orange Ugg's for baby Brooklyn... Here's the best part... grand total for both items... $12.50! There's no better feeling than a great find in a store full of someone else's used excitement... I brought this book with me to pick Sebastian up from school. When he climbed up into his car seat there it was waiting for him in all of it's curious glory... He was thrilled... Oh to be four years old again...

Ice Cream Dream

As I was slowly shopping the ice cream section of the store last night for a little special something, I couldn't help but feel the gravitational pull towards the Haagen-Dazs section... (You can never go wrong here...) I quickly noticed that they were out of Butter Pecan,(always my first pick), and so I started to read the labels of the others... To my excitement there have been a grouping of newly released, Gourmet Magazine prize winning flavors... and so the decision was upon me... They all sounded wonderful... Let's see, there was Honey Vanilla, Sweet Blood Orange and a few others, but my selection was the Caramelized Pear and Toasted Pecan... You must experience this frozen divinity... Scrumptuous!

Sweetest Little Book

In lea of Mother's Day being right around the corner, I ordered this book for Sebastian through his school book club and really lucked out.... I would love to share it with you. The illustrations as well as the message are wonderful, it makes me cry every-time I read it... I love this book, and I love my babies more than anything. The title of the book is, Someday.

One day I counted your fingers and kissed each one.
One day the first snowflakes fell, and I held you up and watched them melt on your baby skin.
One day we crossed the street and you held my hand tight.
Then, you were my baby,
and now you are my child.
Sometimes, when you sleep, I watch you dream,
and I dream too...
That someday you will dive into the cool, clear water of a lake.
Someday you will walk into a deep wood.
Someday your eyes will be filled with a joy so deep that they shine.
Someday you will run so fast and so far your heart will feel like fire.
Someday you will swing high- so high, higher than you ever dared to swing.
Someday you will hear something so sad that you will fold up with sorrow.
Someday you will call a song to the wind, and the wind will carry your song away.
Someday I will stand on this porch and watch your arms waving to me until I no longer see you.
Someday you will look at this house and wonder how something that feels so big can look so small.
Someday you will feel a small weight against your strong back.
Someday I will watch you brushing your child's hair.
Someday, a long time from now, your own hair will glow silver in the sun.
And when that day comes, love, you will remember me.
